Physical activity is important for good health, and it’s especially important if you’re trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight. The more you get your heart rate up, the more calories you will burn. The more physical activity you do increases the number of calories your body uses for energy (burns off). The burning of calories with reducing the number of calories you eat, creates a calorie deficit, which results in weight loss.
Eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to jumpstart your weight loss. Most fruits and vegetables are low in calories and fat, and high in fiber. Fruits and vegetables also contain plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, all of which are important for helping you to look and feel your best and to protect you from disease.
Replacing fast food with healthier foods can help you feel more energized. Fast food is usually high in saturated fats, sodium and added sugar. According to the American Heart Association, a diet high in saturated fats, sodium and sugar not only increases your risk of obesity, but also heart disease and stroke.

Not getting enough sleep can reduce and undo the benefits of dieting. Research shows, people who are sleep deprived feel significantly hungrier, less satisfied after meals, and lack energy to exercise.
Reducing your intake of calorie-dense carbs automatically reduces the amount of calories you are consuming on a daily basis, which forces your body to burn fat stored around your midsection for energy, rather than the sugars it takes from carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates are sugars. Remember, it’s not calories that satisfy your hunger, it’s nutrients, such as protein, fiber and healthy fats. Unfortunately, simple refined carbs are lacking in all three.
Drinking water to lose weight is one of the easiest things you can do to support your weight loss efforts. Water has no calories or carbs, and drinking water helps with water weight loss and reduces bloating. Studies show that drinking water raises your metabolism and improves your fat burning rate. Drinking water before a meal can also help you feel more satisfied, which causes you to eat less.
By eliminating sugar or sugary foods, you reduce the amount of calories consumed, which can translate into weight loss. This includes soda. Most sodas contain empty calories, refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. Soda is high in calories and has no nutritional value.
A sufficient amount of fiber may reduce your appetite and help you eat less, which may contribute to weight loss. Fiber is super-filling. Not only is it great for keeping your appetite and your weight in-check, fiber has loads of other health benefits — it’s heart-healthy, good for your gut health, reduces your risk of diabetes and certain cancers and helps with bowel movement.
